The 2021 Baseball America top 100 prospect list is out, and the Texas Rangers placed just a single player on the list — third baseman Josh Jung, who came in at #49.
I have to say that I’m surprised by this — Dane Dunning, who the Rangers acquired for Lance Lynn this winter, was at #95 on the list when BA last updated at the end of September, and I figured Dunning, along with Sam Huff and Leody Taveras, would be in the back part of the top 100.
On the positive side, this is an impressive showing for Jung, who was at #92 on the end of September list. BA says Jung is showing power to go with his quality hit tool, and the fact that he snuck into the top 50 without the benefit of an actual minor league season last year is indicative of his rising stock around the league.
