The Texas Rangers traded relief pitcher Art Warren to the Cincinnati Reds for $100,000 on January 6, 2021.

I did not realize this until today, and apologize for having missed it — John Blake tweeted it out at 12:55 p.m. on Wednesday, and as you may recall, there were some other things going on at the time that were distracting.

Warren had previously been claimed on waivers from the Seattle Mariners by the Rangers in October. I believe the waiver price is $50,000 — if so, the Rangers made a cool 50 Gs here, so, you know, way to go team.

Warren had been designated for assignment by the Rangers to make room on the 40 man roster for Kohei Arihara.

The 40 man roster now remains at 40. If the Rangers add anyone else to the major league roster — and it seems likely they will be looking at adding a third baseman, and perhaps another starting pitcher, to the 40 man — they will have to make a move to clear a roster spot for that player.
