Baseball America has their top 10 list for AA Central out, and the Texas Rangers placed a pair of prospects on the list.
Josh Jung, the Rangers first round pick out of Texas Tech in 2019, ranked 7th on the BA list, between Matt Brash and Nolan Gorman. Jung earned praise for his control of the strike zone and ability to drive the ball up the middle.
Cole Winn, the Rangers’ first round pick in 2018, was ninth on the list. BA noted his four pitch mix and excellent command. Winn was also recently named the AA Central Pitcher of the Year by MLB.
While Jung being in the back half of the top 10 may be a bit disappointing at first glance, the League Formerly Known As The Texas League was stacked this year — Bobby Witt, Jr., Julio Rodriguez, and C.J. Abrams were the top three on the BA list, and one could make a reasonable argument that those are the three best prospects in baseball. All three are consensus top 5-10 guys as it is.
