Joey Gallo wins another Gold Glove

Make it two Gold Gloves in a row for Joey Gallo

The Gold Glove Awards were given out last night, which I didn’t blog about because no Rangers were involved, although you can see the full list here.

However, I would be remiss if I did not do a post about former Ranger Joey Gallo winning his second straight Gold Glove in right field. Congrats to Joey on that.

It is kind of amusing to me how quickly the general attitude towards Gallo has changed. Early on in his career, he was viewed by the masses as a big, slow, unathletic guy in the mold of Adam Dunn, someone who could mash and draw walks but was a liability anywhere he had to put on a glove.

And now? Now, Gallo is, justifiably, generally acknowledged as one of the best defensive corner outfielders in the game. Folks have figured out he is mobile, he’s athletic, and he’s got a rocket for an arm.

Sad though it is Gallo is a Yankee and not a Ranger as he receives this award, its still nice to see Gallo honored.
