MLB Rumors: Mitch Moreland and Trevor Rosenthal are each heading to Oakland, with reports indicating the free agents have each agreed to one year deals with the A’s.
Moreland, former Texas Ranger fan favorite who was with the Boston Red Sox from 2017 until being traded to the San Diego Padres at the trade deadline in 2020, has reportedly agreed to a one year, $2.25 million deal. He joins former Texas Ranger fan favorite Elvis Andrus in the Oakland infield.
In addition, the A’s have reportedly agreed to a one year, $11 million deal with free agent reliever Trevor Rosenthal. Rosenthal, 30, had a disastrous comeback season in 2019, putting up a 13.50 ERA in 22 games (but just 15.1 IP) between the Washington Nationals and the Detroit Tigers, but rebounded in 2020. He put up a 3.29 ERA in 14 games for the Kansas City Royals in 2020 before being dealt at the deadline — like Moreland, to the Padres — and threw up 10 shutout innings for San Diego.
