Good morning. The Texas Rangers don’t play a spring training baseball game today (or, at least, not an A game) but there is still a plethora of things to peruse this morning.
Evan Grant has notes on Khris Davis’ spring struggles, Willie Calhoun’s injury, and an update on Bayron Lora, among other items.
Jeff Wilson writes that the Rangers are putting Leody Taveras through his paces this spring in hopes that he’ll come away stronger from the competition.
Indeed, as Kennedi Landry writes, Eli White has provided a stiff challenge for Taveras for the center field job.
Wilson writes that the Rangers will need several starters to fill the backend of the rotation in what probably won’t be a traditional season for pitchers.
Grant writes that Wes Benjamin might have pitched his way into one of those rotation slots with a solid spring after the lefty embraced analytics.
Landry takes another stab at pinning down the Opening Day roster for the Rangers with Opening Day just a couple of weeks away.
And, LSB favorite and underrated all-time Rangers great Ian Kinser will be suiting up once more!
Be well!
