Ian Kennedy and Matt Bush will make the Texas Rangers Opening Day roster barring something unforeseen, per Rangers manager Chris Woodward, via the beats. Neither Kennedy nor Bush are on the 40 man roster, and Woodward acknowledged that it is possible something unforeseen related to the roster situation — one would assume a waiver claim or other such move — could change plans, but at this point the plan is to add those two.
With the news earlier today that Josh Sborz will make the roster, that there is one open spot left on the Opening Day roster. With only three players on the bench one would think that the final spot would more likely than not be a position player — Charlie Culberson and Adolis Garcia would be the internal candidates — but a relief pitcher is also a possibility. The final roster spot will go to someone who also needs a 40 man roster spot, meaning the Rangers will need to create three 40 man openings. Jonathan Hernandez, Jose Leclerc, and either Brock Burke or Demarcus Evans going to the 60 day injured list would seem to be the most likely scenario.
