Adrian Morejon, San Diego Padres starting pitcher, will undergo Tommy John surgery, per multiple reports. The 22 year old left hander left his start against the Texas Rangers on April 11 after just three batters, and an MRI has apparently indicated UCL damage that will necessitate surgery.

Morejon is a very talented young pitcher who has been on the top 100 prospect lists for several years, and who appeared ready to establish himself as a quality major league starting pitcher. He will now be out until sometime after the start of the 2022 season, which is a blow for the Padres, who are trying to knock off the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West. The Padres are also without starting pitcher Mike Clevinger, who will miss all of 2021 due to offseason Tommy John surgery.

Fortunately for San Diego, they still have Joe Musgrove, Yu Darvish, Blake Snell and Chris Paddack in the rotation, and have Dinelson Lamet coming off the injured list soon.
