The Texas Rangers scored seven runs and the Anaheim Angels scored four runs.
All of the real cool and good Angels like Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani, and Justin Upton took Mike Foltynewicz deep today with solo shots — and Jose Iglesias added one in the ninth — but Adolis Garcia hit a one-out, three-run bomb to bring the Rangers back from a 3-1 deficit in the eighth inning.
With a run earlier in the game, a solo dong from Nate Lowe to follow Garcia, and some ninth inning insurance runs, the Rangers completed the comeback and took the series in Anaheim.
That’s a nice way to start the season slate against the AL West and the best way to go into an off day.
Player of the Game:
And, yes, Joey Gallo reached base (three times) via a walk.
Up Next: The Rangers have the day off tomorrow before opening up a series against the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field over the weekend. RHP Dane Dunning will get a crack at the team that traded him in the opener against RHP Dylan Cease for the White Sox.
Friday’s first pitch is scheduled for 7:10 pm CT.
