The Texas Rangers recalled Wes Benjamin from AAA Round Rock today, the team announced. To make room for him on the active roster the Rangers have optioned outfielder Eli White to AAA Round Rock.

Benjamin is replacing Kohei Arihara in the rotation — Arihara was placed on the injured list several days ago, with White being recalled to take his spot on the roster at that time. Benjamin was announced yesterday as being today’s starter. He started the year on the Opening Day roster as part of a tandem starter setup, but command issues resulted in him being sent down after three outings.

White, meanwhile, hasn’t hit so far this season, which is why he was sent down in the first place. I am not sure if he will be part of the team’s taxi squad for the time being, or if he will be actually heading to Round Rock, but if he does go to Round Rock he will join Leody Taveras, who he was battling with in spring training for the starting center field job, in the Express outfield.
