Yankees activate Rougned Odor

Former Ranger Rougned Odor has been activated from the injured list

The New York Yankees have activated Rougned Odor from the injured list, it was announced today. The former Rangers will now be on the active roster for the Yankees for the final three games of their current series in Arlington.

The 27 year old Odor was designated for assignment by the Rangers right before Opening Day, 2021, after a disappointing run for Texas over the previous few seasons. The Rangers ended up sending him to the Yankees on April 6 for Antonio Cabello and Josh Stowers, with the Rangers picking up most of Odor’s salary.

Odor has slashed .164/.271/.361 in 70 plate appearances for the Yankees, while playing solely second base. I would anticipate that Odor will likely start today and Thursday for New York, given that righthanders Mike Foltynewicz and Dane Dunning are slated to start those two games for Texas. With lefty Hyeon-jong Yang expected to be the “starter” Wednesday (albeit possibly with an opener), Odor will, I’m guessing, be on the bench then.
