MLB Trade Rumors: The New York Yankees and the Texas Rangers are discussing a possible Delino DeShields trade, per Ken Rosenthal on Twitter. Rosenthal notes that the Yankees, who currently have Aaron Hicks and Giancarlo Stanton on the injured list, are in need of outfield depth.

DeShields is with AAA Round Rock currently, but is not in the lineup tonight. DeShields was sent to Cleveland, along with Emmanuel Clase, in the Corey Kluber trade in the 2019-20 offseason. After being non-tendered by the Indians this past winter, DeShields signed a minor league deal with Texas.

DeShields didn’t make the team out of spring training, as Eli White and Leody Taveras beat him out, but while both White and Taveras have since been sent down, DeShields has still not gotten the call, primarily because of the impressive performance by Adolis Garcia so far this season.

While DeShields has gotten off to a great start for Round Rock, any trade would likely be for a negligible return.
