Hickory had a rather remarkable tandem starter dual outing today. Grant Wolfram started and went 4 shutout innings, allowing 2 hits and 2 walks, striking out 6. Zak Kent followed him and threw 4 shutout innings, allowing one hit, one walk and one batter to reach on an error, and struck out 10 batters. Yes, 10 batters in just 4 IP. Coming into tonight he had thrown 6.2 IP over 2 outings with 5 hits, 1 walk and 5 Ks. He was a 9th round pick out of VMI in 2019, signed for $140K. Maybe I should keep an eye on him.

The Crawdads had just three hits today. Frainyer Chavez had a triple. Jonathan Ornelas had a single.

Yerry Rodriguez started for Frisco and went 4.1 IP, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and 4 walks, striking out 6.

Late Round Rock game so this will be updated with their summary later tonight.

UPDATE — Round Rock fell 6-1, with all six runs coming off of Wes Benjamin, who had a rough go in his first start since being sent back down to AAA. Benjamin allowed a pair of home runs among 6 hits, allowing 6 runs (5 earned) with two walks against three Ks. Ryder Ryan had 1.2 scoreless IP, with 3 Ks, a hit batter and 2 walks, and has yet to allow an earned run this year. Demarcus Evans continued his push for a major league bullpen spot, logging 2 IP with 4 Ks against 1 walk, and Luis Ortiz threw two scoreless, allowing three hits and walking two.

The Express had just two hits on the day — a Delino DeShields single and a Jason Martin double.
