El Bombi hit two home runs, the Texas Rangers scored eight runs, and the Houston Astros scored four runs.
Adolis Garcia is tied for the American League lead for home runs in 2021 with 14 after he hit the two dongs today following his blast to win the game for Texas last evening.
Garcia’s bops were solo shots so judging by the final score, it might not seem like they meant much but his first one drew Texas to within 4-3 after they trailed 3-0 and then 4-2 through the middle innings with starter Jordan Lyles having trouble early.
Garcia’s second homer tied the game at four runs apiece and then the floodgates opened as the Rangers put up a total of five runs on Houston in the bottom of the seventh to guarantee themselves, at minimum, a series win over the Astros this weekend.
Player of the Game:
Bonus mention to Jose Trevino whose two-RBI double that nearly cleared the fence for a grand slam, after Garcia had tied the game, was a critical hit as it gave the Rangers their first lead and allowed them to pile on to the eventual 8-4 final score.
Up Next: The Rangers and Astros will close out this series with RHP Mike Foltynewicz set to make the start for Texas with a series sweep on the line against RHP Cristian Javier in the finale. Sunday’s first pitch from The Shed is scheduled for 1:35 pm CT.
