Minor league update for 5/23/21

Down East won 4-0 today, with Mason Englert picking up his first professional “W.” He needed just 60 pitches to go five innings, striking out 2 while allowing 3 hits. Evan Carter walked twice and stole a base, and Keyber Rodriguez had a pair of hits.

For Hickory, Ronny Henriquez got the start and allowed an unearned run in five innings of work, allowing one hit, striking out three and walking three. Hickory won 2-1 on an 8th inning Blaine Crim two run single. Frainyer Chavez, Jake Guenther and David Garcia also had hits.

Frisco had A.J. Alexy get the start, and Alexy threw three perfect innings, striking out three. Scott Engler allowed the only run the Roughriders allowed on a solo homer while striking out 5 in 2 IP. J.P. Martinez had two doubles and a single, Bubba Thompson had a double, a walk and an HBP, and Ryan Dorow had a pair of hits.

Round Rock fell to Tacoma, as Brock Burke had another rough outing, allowing five runs in 1.2 IP. Anderson Tejeda had a hit and a walk and Jason Martin had a single and a homer.
