22-27 - Rangers rebound for Silver Boot battle sweep over Astros

Another walk-off effort from Adolis Garcia sends fans home happy

MLB: Houston Astros at Texas Rangers Andrew Dieb-USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Rangers scored three runs and the Houston Astros scored two runs after ten innings.

Comin’ for the Boot.

After getting swept in Houston last week, the Rangers returned the favor by sweeping the Astros to keep the treasured Silver Boot in reach.

Player of the Game: Mike Foltynewicz didn’t have swing and miss stuff today but he enjoyed arguably his best outing as a member of the Rangers as far as results go. The former Astro was able to toss seven shutout innings on just three hits and two walks with two Ks.

That’s pretty good considering Houston came into this series as the top hitting team in the league by most metrics.

A win for Folty wasn’t to be, however, as a bullpen combo of Josh Sborz and Brett Martin came on in the eighth and promptly allowed two runs to erase the lead and rob the starter of a deserved victory.

In the end, I’m sure he’ll be fine with the outcome today as the Rangers’ zombie scored in extras while Houston’s did not.

Up Next: The Rangers have a welcomed day off on Monday before heading out for a West Coast road trip to close out the month of May beginning in Anaheim on Tuesday night.
