A full slate of games as Round Rock started play today...

For Frisco, Tyler Phillips had an impressive 2021 debut, throwing 4 shutout innings and striking out 5, with 2 hits and a walk. Hever Bueno had a 1-2-3 5th with a pair of Ks, and went out for the sixth, but after retiring the first batter he walked the next three, which ended his night. Joe Gatto came on in relief of Bueno and, whatever issues he may have had in camp, he didn’t have them today, as he went 2.1 hitless IP, striking out 3 and walking 1. Fernery Ozuna had 1.1 shutout innings to finish it out.

As for the Roughriders bats, Bubba Thompson had a huge night, homering twice and also doubling. Davis Wendzel had a walk and a homer, and Sherten Apostel had a single and a double.

Wes Benjamin started for Round Rock and pitched well, striking out 8 in 5 scoreless innings of work while walking one. Jake Lemoine threw 2 scoreless innings, and Luis Ortiz and Demarcus Evans had one apiece.

Leody Taveras had a walk and a hit and Khris Davis was 0 for 4 in his rehab outing.

For Down East, Dane Acker started and went 3.1 innings, touching 96 mph. He struck out 5 and allowed 1 run. Joshua Javier had an adventurous outing, walking 4 and striking out 5 in 2 IP.

Evan Carter had 2 more walks and a double for the DEWDs. Luisangel Acuna picked up a single and a bases loaded triple. Newly converted catcher Cody Freeman had a pair of hits.

Cody Bradford made his pro debut for Hickory tonight and got knocked around, allowing 5 runs in 2.1 IP on 4 hits and 2 walks, striking out 4. Blaine Crim had two home runs, David Garcia had a pair of hits, and Chris Seise had a triple and two walks.
