The Texas Rangers have placed pitcher Kohei Arihara on the 10 day injured list with a right middle finger contusion. To replace Arihara on the active roster, the Rangers have recalled outfielder Eli White from AAA Round Rock.
Arihara has been bad in his past few starts, and this most recent start was pushed back due to a callus on his middle finger which he got an injection for. I suspect that the Rangers are going to have him do some side work and then do a rehab start or two with Round Rock to see if they can get him fixed.
As for White, he was optioned to Round Rock yesterday to open up a spot on the active roster for DH Khris Davis. White normally could not be recalled for at least ten days after being optioned, but because he is replacing a player going on the injured list, he is able to be brought back up sooner. He will presumably be a late game defensive replacement/pinch runner and will play center field if Adolis Garcia needs a day off.
