Minor league update for 6/11/21

A pair of doubleheaders for the A ball teams

Down East resumed the game that was suspended last night. Gavin Collyer had started yesterday, going 1.1 scoreless IP with one hit and one walk allowed. When play resumed today, he was replaced by Abdiel Mendoza, who got rocked. Nic Laio allowed two runs in 3 IP with 5 Ks.

Evan Carter, who had a hit in two at bats when play suspended yesterday, had another double as well as a walk in the second part of game one. Antonio Cabello and Cody Freeman each had a hit and a walk. Thomas Saggese had two walks.

In the later game for Down East, T.K. Roby started for the DEWDs. Roby went five shutout innings, striking out eight, allowing three hits and allowing no walks. Leury Tejada struck out three in two shutout innings, with one walk and one hit.

Keyber Rodriguez had a home run. Evan Carter had a walk, a hit and a HBP. Luisangel Acuna had a hit and two walks. Thomas Saggese and Antonio Cabello each had a hit.

Hickory also had a double header. In game one, Cody Bradford started, going 5.1 IP and allowing three runs on three hits and three walks, striking out nine. Nick Snyder allowed one run in 1.2 IP. Jonathan Ornelas had two hits, Blaine Crim, Frainyer Chavez and Jake Guenther each had a hit, and Kellen Strahm had a hit and a walk.

Game two for the Crawdads was started by Zak Kent, who hadn’t allowed any runs so far this season heading into today. He got lit up, giving up 7 runs in 1.2 IP on 6 hits and 2 walks. Blaine Crim homered. Jose Acosta, Kellen Strahm and Jake Guenther all had hits.

Frisco saw Yerry Rodriguez make his return to the mound tonight. Yerry went four scoreless, striking out four, not walking anyone and allowing two hits. Scott Engler struck out four in 1.2 IP. Cole Uvila pitched the ninth and had his issues, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk, but also struck out three.

Bubba Thompson, Josh Stowers, Anderson Tejeda and J.P. Martinez all homered. Thompson also had two singles, Tejeda had a single, Sherten Apostel had a hit, and Ryan Dorow had a hit and two walks.

Wade LeBlanc started for Round Rock and was quite good. He went 7 shutout innings, striking out 8, walking 1 and allowing 3 hits.

Curtis Terry homered. Leody Taveras drew three walks. Yonny Hernandez had a hit and two walks. Andy Ibanez and Carl Chester each had hits.
