Minor League Update for 6/16/21

Round Rock is off today, while the other three affiliates were in action

Down East sent Wyatt Sparks to the mound today. Sparks went five innings, allowing a run on four hits. Sparks struck out four, walked one and hit one. Leury Tejada gave up three runs on six hits in 2.2 IP, striking out three. Nic Laio allowed two runs in 1.1 IP, striking out one.

Luisangel Acuna and Antonio Cabello each had hits.

Down East box score

Cole Ragans got the start for the Hickory Crawdads. Ragans rocked, throwing five shutout innings, allowing three hits and one walk, striking out eight.

Jake Guenther had a double and a homer. Frainyer Chavez had two hits. Pedro Gonzalez had a home run. Jonathan Ornelas, Kellen Strahm and Blaine Crim all had hits.

Hickory took a 5-0 lead into the bottom of the ninth. They gave up six runs in the ninth, the final one coming on a two out bases loaded walk on a 3-2 pitch. It’s been that sort of season for Hickory.

Frisco had Hans Crouse take the mound against Corpus Christi. Crouse went 4.2 IP, allowing four runs on four hits and three walks, striking out four. Cole Uvila struck out three in two shutout innings.

Josh Jung had a big game, going 3 for 5 with a three run home run. Bubba Thompson had three hits, J.P. Martinez had two hits and a walk, and Steele Walker had a hit and two walks.
