The Rangers are back home for 10 games in 10 days, starting with a weekend series against the Minnesota Twins.
The 27-41 Twins will have José Berríos on the mound to start the series on Friday. He’s 2-1 in four starts against Texas in his career, with a 5.75 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 20.1 innings pitched. He’s 7-3 this season overall in 13 starts with a 3.49 ERA and 1.09 WHIP this season.
Mike Foltynewicz will start for the Rangers. He’s allowed 13 runs in 6.1 innings pitched this month. Those two starts were the shortest outings for Foltynewicz this season, at 3.2 and 2.2 innings. Foltynewicz has a 7.56 ERA and 1.80 WHIP in four career games against Minnesota in his career.
The Twins start for Saturday is currently TBD but Kolby Allard will take the mound for Texas. Allard has forced himself into the rotation this season. This will be Allard’s second game against the Twins but his first start. He pitched 2.1 innings against them in May and gave up three runs on five hits and struck out two.
Sunday’s series finale will be Kenta Maeda’s second start since coming off the IL from a groin strain. In his previous start he went four innings, allowed just one run on three hits and three walks and struck out seven. In May, he went 5.1 innings against Texas and gave up no runs on two hits and two walks and struck out eight.
Dane Dunning will get the start for the Rangers, this will be his third career start against the Twins, second of this season. He has a 2.13 ERA and 0.79 WHIP in 12.2 innings pitched against Minnesota.
