A full slate of minor league games on tap after Monday’s A and AA wide off day.
Jake Latz was the star of the day for the Rangers minor league games. Latz went 6 innings for Frisco, striking out 11, walking one and allowing three hits. Of the three hits, two were singles in the first inning, and the other was a home run to the next to last batter he faced. The home run was the first run allowed by Latz since his first start of the year, when he allowed 5 runs in 2.1 IP. The 25 year old lefty could be headed to Round Rock before too long if he keeps this up.
In relief, Joe Gatto, Noah Bremer and Cole Uvila each threw a scoreless inning. Steele Walker homered for the Roughriders.
For Hickory, Justin Slaten took the mound and gave up a pair of runs in 3 IP, with 3 walks and 3 Ks.
Pedro Gonzalez had two hits, including his first home run of the year. Blaine Crim had a pair of hits. David Garcia had a hit, Jonathan Ornelas had a hit and two walks, and Frainyer had a hit and a walk.
Nic Laio went 3 shutout innings for Down East, striking out 6, walking 1 and allowing no hits or runs.
Thomas Saggese, making his third career start, picked up his first career single, his first career double, and his first career home run. Evan Carter went 1 for 3 with a walk, a double and a sac fly. Luisangel Acuna had a walk and a double, and Keithron Moss had a pair of walks.
Newly signed Wade Leblanc went five innings for the Express, allowing three runs on five hits, including a pair of homers, with eight Ks. Joe Barlow struck out two in an inning of work.
Delino DeShields had a single and a double, Leody Taveras had a single, a double and a walk, Eli White had a pair of hits and a walk, and Curtis Terry homered.
