  • Oh hey. o_o Trying these on the front page.

  • First thing’s first, Bubba Thompson was a late scratch last night. Wasn’t in BP, taken out of the lineup about 30 min before the game. I don’t think there’s any need for worry, he was with the team postgame and I’ve been told that he’s good to go. So...make of that what you will.

  • First game back home for the RoughRiders since May 15. They went 7-5 on their road trip.

  • Story of the game, again, was Jake Latz. Latz entered the night on a scoreless streak of 14.2 innings, and he was everything that he had been over his last three starts, but better. Fastball was mostly 92ish, curveball was working and he was locating it well. Went six innings and struck out eleven. 84 pitches, 59 strikes, 12 swings n misses.
  • He works so, so fast. Tepid said he averaged 14 seconds between pitches. This is becoming the most enjoyable part of Latz starts. Ya love to see it.
  • Latz struck out five straight at one point, K’ing the side in order in the fifth, then striking out the first two in the sixth.
  • Then Jake McCarthy (D-Backs former 1st rounder, the tail end of it in 2018) killed the narrative and harshed everyone’s vibe and pounded a high Latz fastball around the RF pole for a home run, Amarillo’s only run of the night. Scoreless streak ended at 20.1 innings for Latz. Then he struck out the next batter, K number 11 of the game, and was done for the night.
  • Final line: 6 IP, 3 hits, 1 run, 11 Ks, and a walk (that maybe shouldn’t have been, idk).

  • Bullpen was good, Joe Gatto, Noah Bremmer, Cole Uvila. Quiet inning a piece from all three. The Uvila fastball is pretty firmly entrenched at 95 with some good life on it.

  • Steele Walker demolished a ball in his first at-bat, which was much needed. He slashed .163/.182/.326 on the road trip and has looked a little lost. I’m no swing coach but his has often looked out of control, he’ll get fooled by a pitch and take a big giant swing and whiff on you, but he connected on one tonight for a big bomb dead to right field, up and over the Lazy River.
  • Walker bomb, featuring slow trot:
  • That was about it for the offense. A couple seventh inning walks and a bloop single gave Frisco the lead in the seventh. Then they added an insurance run via this boner:

  • On the bad side, Josh Stowers got his first dinger on Sunday and he singled in his first AB....but he’s still struggling. Struck out in ABs 2 and 3.
  • JP Martinez looks worse. 0-4 with 4 Ks last night.

  • Cole Winn gets the start for Frisco tonight, then after that... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Tyler Phillips and Yerry Rodriguez are both on the IL, Yerry for a bruise/contusion after he got tagged by a comebacker, and Scott Lucas said Tyler Phillips has “elbow stiffness,” which I suppose is one rung below elbow tightness, which is one rung below elbow inflammation on the Ominous Elbow-Language Ladder of Panic.
  • Final score 4-1, RoughRiders beat the *Sod Poodles*.
