The Texas Rangers outrighted pitcher Tyson Miller to AAA Round Rock today, the team announced. The Rangers also outrighted pitcher Hyeon-jong Yang to AAA Round Rock on Saturday, a transaction I missed.
Miller had been designated for assignment to open up a 40 man roster spot for Shaun Anderson, who the Rangers claimed on waivers from the Minnesota Twins on Friday.
Miller had been claimed on waivers by the Rangers from the Chicago Cubs on June 4. The Rangers waived Miller on Friday, and he went unclaimed, meaning he stays in the Rangers organization and is no longer on the 40 man roster. He had made one start for Round Rock prior to being waived, and presumably will be back in the Express rotation.
Joining him in the Express rotation will, I am guessing, be Hyeon-jong Yang. Yang was designated for assignment when the Rangers acquired Dennis Santana from the Los Angeles Dodgers earlier this week. The 33 year old left has a 5.59 ERA in 28 innings in the majors this year for the Rangers. He has yet to make an appearance for Round Rock.
