While the major league team keeps losing, we should focus on some of the good things happening on the farm.

Such as some guys in Frisco. Cole Winn pitched the first inning in Corpus Christi, despite A.J. Alexy being announced as the starter. Winn threw seven pitches — he issued a four pitch walk, then elicited an 0-1 GIDP and a first pitch pop up to catcher — and then was done for the day. He normally starts on Tuesdays, and this was four days after his last outing, so it appears they were just letting Winn get some work in on what would be a throw day.

A.J. Alexy pitched the next five innings and allowed no runs on a walk and four hits, striking out seven. 51 of 77 pitches were for strikes, and his ERA on the year is down to 0.74. Hever Bueno gave up a run in two innings of work, striking out two, walking two and allowing two hits.

Josh Jung had a pair of singles, and is now 8 for 19 since being activated. J.P. Martinez and Josh Stowers each had hits.

Down East had their game called after five (four and a half, technically, since Down East was the home team and was up 6-0 after the top of the fifth. Mason Englert threw a complete game, striking out seven while walking two and allowing two hits.

Keyber Rodriguez and Luisangel Acuna each had doubles. Alejandro Osuna had a double and a walk. Dustin Harris had a pair of hits, and Jayce Easley had a hit.

Hickory lost 9-8 in extra innings, with newly promoted reliever Joe Corbett giving up four hits and three walks (two intentional) in 1.1 IP.

Blaine Crim and Jake Guenther each had a single and a double. Jonathan Ornelas had two hits and a walk, and Kellen Strahm had two walks and a hit.

Hyeon-jong Yang started for Round Rock and gave up 2 runs in 3.2 IP. Ryder Ryan had a disaster outing, allowing five runs in one inning of work, allowing four hits, including a home run, and walking two.

Leody Taveras had a home run and a walk. Andy Ibanez had a home run and a single. Curtis Terry had a single.

I think I should note here that I typed “Jason“ and then had to back up and type “Curtis.”
