Some ugly pitching lines tonight. Oh, and Down East got banged due to rain.
Hickory lost 18-4. Justin Slaten and the newly promoted Nic Laio each got rocked. Jonathan Ornelas and Blaine Crim each had hits. Kellen Strahm had two hits.
Hans Crouse started for Frisco. He went 6.2 IP, allowing one run on three hits and a walk, striking out three. Ty Thomas came in in relief of Crouse and allowed a run on two hits and a walk in 0.1 IP. Nick Snyder struck out the side in the ninth and Tepid says he was throwing 98.
Bubba Thompson had a hit, two stolen bases and a walk. J.P. Martinez had two hits and a walk. Josh Stowers had a home run and two walks. Josh Jung was 0 for 4 with a walk.
Tyler Phillips started for Round Rock, and in his AAA debut couldn’t get out of the first inning. He faced seven batters, struck out one, got one to ground out, walked two, and allowed three singles. Collin Wiles, who Chris Woodward has mentioned as someone who has pitched well this year and could possibly be a major league option at some point, gave up four runs on six hits — including three home runs — in 3.1 IP.
Joe Gatto threw two scoreless, allowing two hits, walking one and striking out one, and he could be pitching in Arlington before long. Dennis Santana struck out three and walked one in a scoreless inning. Jimmy Herget and Ryder Ryan each threw a scoreless inning.
David Dahl had a triple in three plate appearances. Yonny Hernandez had three singles. Ryan Dorow had a single and a homer. Leody Taveras doubled. Curtis Terry drew a walk.
