Texas Rangers @ Oakland A’s Series Preview

Facing off against the A’s in Oakland

MLB: Kansas City Royals at Texas Rangers Jim Cowsert-USA TODAY Sports

The Rangers begin a six game road trip this evening, starting in Oakland.

Luckily for us in the central time zone, it’s not a 9 p.m CDT start... it’s a 8:40 p.m. CDT start. Take what you can get right?

Tuesday’s game will be a rematch between starters Mike Foltynewicz and James Kaprielian. The two matched up in last Wednesday’s game in which the Rangers won 5-3, however neither starter were the pitcher of record.

Folty went six innings and gave up just two runs on six hits and two walks in that game. Kapreilian gave up two runs on five hits and two walks in his six innings of work.

Wednesday’s game will also be a repeat matchup in Kolby Allard and Chris Bassit. Last week Allard for the loss while Bassit got the win. Allard had gove six innings and gave up four runs on eight hits and no walks. Three of those four runs came in the first inning.

Bassit pitched seven innings and gave up just the one run on five hits and three walks.

The Thursday afternoon series finale will matchup Dane Dunning and Sean Manaea. Dunning did not face Oakland last week and this will be the first time facing the Athletics. The Rangers also missed Manaea last week who has a 2.91 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 16 starts this season. In his 13 career starts against Texas, Manaea has a 3.41 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in 74 innings pitched against the Rangers.
