Minor league update for 6/28/21

The ACL league started play and the Express played a game and a half

The Arizona Complex League kicked off play on Monday, and the Rangers rookie league team fell to the Royals 11-3. Damian Mendoza gave up five runs in four innings of work, allowing a pair of home runs, striking out two and walking one. Michael Brewer, a 2019 32nd rounder who got a well-above-slot $375,000 signing bonus, allowed one run in 2.2 IP in his professional debut, striking out six and walking two.

Rehabbing Sam Huff went 0 for 3 with a walk. Maximo Acosta had a single. Zion Bannister had a double. Franklin Barreto had a single. And a center fielder named Daniel Mateo went 4 for 4 with a double and a triple.

Round Rock finished their game that started the day before and was suspended after four innings. Scott Engler gave up a pair of runs in an inning of work, walking three. Ryder Ryan, Dennis Santana, Jimmy Herget and Jacob Lemoine all threw a scoreless inning.

Leody Taveras, who had homered before the game was suspended, ended the game 3 for 4. Curtis Terry had two doubles.

In the seven inning Game Two, Tyler Phillips allowed one run in three innings of work, walking three and striking out three. Joe Palumbo faced four batters and allowed four runs on three walks and a double. Leody Taveras and Ryan Dorow each double. Yonny Hernandez and Curtis Terry each singled.
