Minor league update 6/30/21

Three interesting starting pitchers take the mound for Rangers affiliates

Down East rolled Wyatt Sparks out for the start, and Sparks continued his recent string of strong performances, going five shutout innings, allowing three hits, striking out four and not walking anyone. Teodoro Ortega threw a scoreless inning.

Thomas Saggese had a home run. Keyber Rodriguez had a hit and a walk. Jayce Easley had three walks and two steals.

Cole Ragans got the start for Hickory. Ragans allowed three runs on six hits, including a home run, in five innings of work, striking out six.

Blaine Crim and Jonathan Ornelas each homered. Jake Guenther had a pair of hits. Kellen Strahm had three walks.

Jake Latz started for Frisco, and was pitching well until he wasn’t. After three shutout innings, Latz gave up three runs in the fourth, then got knocked out of the game in the fifth. Final line is 4.1 IP, six runs, two home runs, three walks, and seven Ks. Hever Bueno fanned four in 3.1 IP, allowing one run. Nick Snyder struck out two in a scoreless inning.

David Dahl went 2 for 3 before being lifted, and he may be rejoining the big league team shortly. Josh Stowers had a homer and a walk. Bubba Thompson had two singles and a double. Sherten Apostel had a double. Anderson Tejeda had a single and a walk.
