Kyle Gibson has been activated from the injured list today, the Texas Rangers announced, and will be starting in tonight’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays. To clear a spot on the active roster, the Rangers have optioned Wes Benjamin to AAA Round Rock.

Gibson last started on May 21 before going on the injured list with a groin issue. Since a bad start on Opening Day Gibson has been excellent this year, and has a 2.24 ERA in 60.1 IP with 48 Ks against 19 walks.

Benjamin, meanwhile, heads back to Round Rock once again. Though Benjamin made the Opening Day roster out of spring training, he struggled with his command and was sent down in mid-April. He has bounced up and down since then, but has not had success in his brief opportunities with the big club, most recently allowing 4 runs in 2 innings against the Colorado Rockies yesterday.
