Player of the Game: Kyle Gibson showed the Rangers what they’ve been missing over the last few weeks as the squad’s top starter came back from injury and allowed zero runs in 5 1⁄3 innings with five hits but zero walks and five Ks.
Gibson was eased back in as he only tossed 73 pitches tonight in his return but he gave the Rangers what they needed to allow for the bats to heat up enough for the bullpen to hang on. Following another stellar outing, Gibson’s ERA has been lowered to a miniscule 2.06.
Up Next: The Rangers will now go for a winning streak with LHP Kolby Allard set to make the start for Texas tomorrow against LHP Rich Hill for Tampa Bay. Saturday afternoon’s first pitch from The Shed is scheduled for 3:05 pm CT.
