So there was all the excitement yesterday with Cole Winn and Cole Ragans pitching in the Futures Game — and the announcement afterwards that Ragans was moving up to AA Frisco — as well as the drafting of Jack Leiter by the Rangers in the MLB Draft.
But we also had minor league games yesterday!
Down East sent Mason Englert out for the start and it was a rough one for the Metroplex product. Englert gave up 8 runs in 3 IP on seven hits, two walks and two HBPs, striking out three. Nick Lockhart gave up six runs in 2 IP on four hits (including two home runs), three walks and two Ks. Teodoro Ortega threw three scoreless innings, allowing three hits and two walks, striking out two.
Cody Freeman had a pair of walks and a homer. Angel Aponte went two for five with a home run. Jayce Easley had a pair of hits and a walk. Luisangel Acuna had a pair of walks and a hit. Dustin Harris had a double and a walk. Thomas Saggese and Alejandro Osuna each had hits. Keyber Rodriguez had a pair of hits.
Grant Wolfman started for Hickory and gave up six runs in 4 IP. Nic Laio allowed a run in three innings.
Justin Foscue went three for four with a walk, a single, a double and a home run in his return to Hickory. He now has an 835 OPS during his time in high-A. Kellen Strahm, Jake Guenther and David Garcia each had hits.
A.J. Alexy started for Frisco and had a wacky first inning that featured three walks, two strikeouts, a hit batter, a wild pitch and a balk, but just one run. His final line was 3 IP, 1 hit, 1 run, 6 Ks, 4 walks, 2 HBPs. He’s now sporting a 1.75 ERA on the year. Cole Uvila allowed 4 runs in an inning of work on two hits, including a home run, and two walks, striking out two.
The only Frisco hit was a Melvin Novoa home run.
Round Rock sent Tyler Phillips out for the start. Phillips allowed three runs on four hits (including two home runs) and two walks, striking out three. Jacob Lemoine and Jimmy Herget each threw a scoreless inning.
Yohel Pozo had a double and a homer. Yonny Hernandez had a hit.
