The Baseball America 2021 MLB top 100 prospect list now includes Texas Rangers pitching prospect Cole Winn. Winn has be added at #99 on the list.
I will note that this update is due to a couple of players graduating from the list and losing prospect status, and thus being removed. This interim updates involve BA generally moving everyone behind a graduating player up a spot, and the new addition or additions being added at the end (though there is also some minor shuffling at the very top in this update). As a result, you should read this as “Winn is now on the top 100 list,” not as “Winn is the 99th ranked player on BA’s list.”
Winn, a 21 year old righthander, has a 2.73 ERA in 52.2 IP over 12 starts for AA Frisco, with 61 Ks against 19 walks and 5 home runs. He appeared in the MLB Futures Game nine days ago, along with his new Frisco teammate Cole Ragans. Winn has been one of the highlights of the Rangers’ farm system this year, and could move up to Round Rock before the season is over.
The other Ranger prospect currently on the top 100 list is Josh Jung, who is at #35 (up from #37). Jung and Winn will no doubt be joined by Jack Leiter once Leiter officially signs and BA updates their rankings to include 2021 draftees.
