The Texas Rangers scored a run!!!! However, the Detroit Tigers scored four runs.
The scoreless streak is over but it wasn’t much better for Texas tonight as they still managed just four hits once again. At least they got that run to prevent a fourth consecutive shutout loss.
Rangers starter Dane Dunning gave up three runs in his 4 2⁄3 innings with two solo home runs, four hits, a walk, and two strikeouts in 72 pitches. All three of the runs that Dunning allowed came in, you guessed it, odd-numbered innings.
With the defeat, the Rangers added to the league’s longest active losing streak at seven games.
Player of the Game: Andy Ibanez did the impossible as his fifth inning RBI double plated Nathaniel Lowe to end the Rangers’ ghastly 27-inning scoreless skid.
Up Next: Now that the Rangers have scored a run, perhaps RHP Jordan Lyles can help Texas end their losing streak with a victory over RHP Matt Manning and Detroit tomorrow. Wednesday evening’s first pitch from Comerica Park is scheduled for 6:10 pm CT.
