Curtis Terry promotion imminent, per Evan

Evan Grant says Curtis Terry is expected to be added to the major league roster on Friday

MLB: Texas Rangers-Media Day USA TODAY NETWORK

Curtis Terry was lifted from Thursday’s Round Rock Express game after a double, in what Evan Grant says on Twitter is a move made in anticipation of Terry joining the Rangers in Houston on Friday.

Terry, 24, is a righthanded hitting 1B/DH who has had a breakout campaign for AAA Round Rock this year, slashing .291/.373/.577 coming into play today. Terry split the 2019 between low-A and high-A, and turned heads this spring with an impressive camp. Terry will presumably be getting regular playing time at DH.

Jose Trevino, who is rehabbing with Frisco, also was lifted from the game this evening, and I’m guessing will also be activated tomorrow. Trevino’s return would potentially allow for Terry to take the 40 man roster spot of John Hicks, who was brought up to back up Jonah Heim in Trevino’s absence. I’m not sure who would be dropped aside from Hicks to open up an active roster spot for Trevino and Terry on Friday. Nick Solak or Andy Ibanez could be optioned, David Dahl could be waived, one of the backup infielders could be cut loose, or a reliever could be sent down.’
