Minor league update for 7/27/21

Justin Foscue didn’t homer, but that’s just because Hickory was rained out

Down East rolled with Gavin Collyer as their starting pitcher on Tuesday. Collyer allowed 3 runs in 4.2 IP, walking four, allowing four hits, hitting a batter, throwing a wild pitch and striking out six. Marc Church faced three batters and struck them all out, needing just 13 pitches.

Jayce Easley had a pair of hits and a walk. Luisangel Acuna had a single and a double. Keyber Rodriguez had a pair of walks. Thomas Saggese had a double and a walk. Alejandro Osuna had a single and a walk.

Hickory was rained out.

Jake Latz started for Frisco, striking out seven in five innings, with five hits and two walks, allowing three runs. Hever Bueno allowed a run in 1.2 IP on two walks and three hits, striking out one.

Josh Jung had a single, a stolen base and a homer, and his OPS is now up to 925 on the year. Bubba Thompson had a pair of hits, a pair of stolen bases, and a walk. Steele Walker had three hits and a stolen base. Anderson Tejeda had a pair of hits. J.P. Martinez and Sam Huff each had a hit.

Frisco box score

Round Rock played a pair on Tuesday. In Game One, Brock Burke allowed five runs on five hits, including a homer, and a walk in five innings, striking out six. Jimmy Herget allowed a run on two hits, a walk and a K in two innings.

Nick Solak had a single and a double. Leody Tavears had a single, a double, and a walk. Yohel Pozo had three hits.

In Game Two, Wes Benjamin allowed six runs in 3.1 IP on five hits and four walks, striking out four. Jason Bahr threw a scoreless inning. Jharel Cotton allowed run runs in an inning of work, allowing three hits, including a home run, and a walk, striking out two.

Nick Solak went two for two with a walk and an HBP. Yohel Pozo had a walk, a single and a homer.

Damian Mendoza started for the Baby Rangers and didn’t get out of the first, allowing five runs on three hits and a pair of HBPs in 0.2 IP, striking out one. Adrian Rodriguez allowed four runs in 2.1 IP on three walks and three hits, striking out four. Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa struck out six in three scoreless innings, allowing one hit. Aidan Curry walked two and gave up a hit while striking out one in a scoreless inning of work. David McCarty struck out three in two scoreless innings.

Sherten Apostel continued his rehab assignment with a homer run and a walk in four plate appearances. Maximo Acosta and Zion Bannister each had a hit. Derwin Barreto had a single, a triple and a walk.
