Hickory played a pair on Wednesday. Justin Slaten threw four shutout innings and then ran into issues, ultimately going 5.1 IP with five runs allowed on six hits, including three home runs, and a walk, striking out nine. Nic Laio threw 1.2 scoreless innings with a hit and 2 Ks.
Kellen Strahm went 1 for 2 but was lifted for a pinch hitter and didn’t play in the nightcap. Justin Foscue went 0 for 3 with 3 Ks, breaking his streak. David Garcia, Jonathan Ornelas, and Jake Guenther all got hits.
In the second game, Seth Nordlin allowed one run in 5 IP on two hits and a walk, striking out four. Justin Foscue went 0 for 5 with four Ks. Mark Parker says that Greenville basically quit throwing him fastballs in the two games, and he struggled with the offspeed stuff. Jonathan Ornelas, Frainyer Chavez and Blaine Crim each had two hits. Jake Guenther had a hit.
Hans Crouse threw five innings, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out seven. Fernery Ozuna allowed two hits and a walk in an inning of work. Nick Snyder allowed a run on a hit and a walk while striking out one.
Josh Jung tripled. Steele Walker had a single and a walk.
