Minor league update for 7/31/21

Some morning minor league updates for your edification

Nate Krauth started for the Down East Wood Ducks on Saturday. Krauth went 6.2 IP, struck out one, walked two, and allowed a homer, with five runs total coming across on his ledger. Marc Church threw a scoreless inning, striking out one.

Keyber Rodriguez and Yenci Pena each had a single and a double. Jayce Easley drew three walks and Dustin Harris and Thomas Saggese each had two walks.

Down East box score

Avery Weems had it going for Hickory on Saturday — he threw 6.2 innings with just one run — unearned — allowed, striking out six and not walking anyone.

Josh Smith and Jonathan Ornelas each singled and doubled. Ezequiel Duran singled. Blaine Crim had a pair of hits. Jake Guenther had three hits. Justin Hauver had two walks and an HBP.

Hickory box score

A.J. Alexy and Ronny Henriquez tandemed for the Frisco Roughriders on Saturday, and each excelled. Alexy struck out six in five innings of work, allowing one run on a hit and a walk, and his ERA is now down to 1.61 on the season. Henriquez struck out three in four innings of work, allowing a run on three hits.

Bubba Thompson had a pair of hits. J.P. Martinez had a single and a double. Steele Walker had a double. Josh Stowers had a hit.

Frisco box score

Glenn Otto made his debut in the Rangers system, starting for Round Rock, and went five innings, allowing two runs on three walks and five hits, striking out five. Jason Bahr went two innings, allowing an unearned run on a hit and a walk, striking out two. Jacob Lemoine struck out three in two innings.

Nick Solak continued to get his groove back with a double and a homer in five plate appearances, and now has an 1167 OPS for Round Rock. Leody Taveras had a pair of singles and a pair of doubles. Ryan Doro had a hit.

Josh Stephan had his best game as a pro for the ACL Rangers, striking out eight in five innings of work, walking no one and allowing just one hit, a solo home run. 2021 6th rounder Chase Lee — The Viper — made his pro debut with a scoreless inning of work, striking out three. Luke Schiltz threw a scoreless inning with a K.

Daniel Mateo drew a walk. Alisson Del Orbe had a triple and a pair of walks. Efrenyer Narvaez picked up a pair of hits.
