40-73 - Rangers finally break road streak with 5-4 victory in extras

The Rangers won’t reach their longest road losing streak record for a second time in 2021

MLB: Texas Rangers at Seattle Mariners Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Rangers scored five runs and the Seattle Mariners managed only four runs in 10 innings.

In an otherwise uneventful 2-2 baseball contest, an Adolis Garcia go-ahead solo home run in the top of the ninth appeared as though it would be the road losing streak-ender for Texas. However, the M’s scored a run to tie it in the next half inning but left the bases loaded.

An Isiah Kiner-Falefa two-out zombie run scorer in the top of the tenth gave the Rangers the lead again and a Yonny Hernandez single plated IKF to provide the needed insurance.

The win gives Texas their first victory away from home after 14 consecutive losses, their first away triumph in the second half, and their first road win since beating the Mariners at T-Mobile Park back on July 3.

Player of the Game: Kolby Allard pitched six innings and allowed two runs (both on solo homers) on six hits and zero walks while striking out four Mariners. That’s a nice outing!

Up Next: The Rangers and Mariners will be back in action tomorrow night (tonight?) with RHP Spencer Howard making his second start for Texas against LHP Tyler Anderson for Seattle. First pitch from T-Mobile Park is scheduled for 9:10 pm CT.
