Minor league update for 8/12/21

Down East sent Florencio Serrano to the mound to start Thursday’s game, and Serrano threw five scoreless innings, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out three. The 21 year old Corpus Christi native now has a 1.27 ERA in 28.1 innings of work this year, with 29 Ks. Teodoro Ortega had two shutout innings, with 3 Ks and a walk. Marc Church had his first disaster outing of the year, allowing six runs on four hits (including a home run) and two walks while not retiring anyone. As Tepid says, it happens.

Thomas Saggese had a home run and a pair of walks. Luisangela Acuna had three hits and a stolen base. Jose Acosta had two walks, a single, a double and a stolen base. Angel Aponte had a pair of hits. Alejandro Osuna had a hit, a pair of walks and a pair of stolen bases. Jayce Easley had three walks and a stolen base.

Hickory was rained out.

Cole Winn started for the Roughriders and did Cole Winn things — 4 IP, one run, three hits, two walks, six Ks. Ty Thomas threw 1.1 scoreless with 3 Ks. Casey Lee allowed a home run in one inning of work, striking out two.

Justin Foscue was two for four with a double, and now has a 1000 OPS in his (very limited) AA time. Blaine Crim, Josh Smith, Sam Huff, and Bubba Thompson all had hits.

Yerry Rodriguez had another rough go of it for Round Rock, as he started but went just 2.2 IP, walking three, allowing four hits (including a home run), hitting a batter, and allowing six runs, striking out three. Cole Uvila allowed a run in 2.1 IP on two walks and three hits. Joe Gatto had a rough outing, allowing four runs on two hits, two walks, two wild pitches, and a balk in an inning of work. Jacob Lemoine threw two shutout innings and struck out two.

Leody Taveras had a double and a pair of walks. Nick Solak had a hit.

Round Rock box score

For the Surprise guys, Nick Lockhart started and allowed a run in four innings of work, with three hits, no walks and five strikeouts. Luke Schiltz threw two scoreless, with two walks and a strikeout. Adrian Rodriguez allowed a run on a solo home run and three walks, striking out five. D.J. McCarty allowed two zombie runners to score in extra innings, throwing 2.1 IP and allowing two hits, an intentional walk, and an unintentional walk while striking out three.

Rehabbing Davis Wendzel was 0 for 4. Josey Galan homered. Cameron Cauley had a walk and a hit. Efrenyer Narvaez had a hit. Ian Moller doubled. Jojo Blackmon had a double and two walks.
