Gavin Collyer threw 4.2 shutout innings for Down East on Tuesday, striking out seven, walking three and allowing two hits. Collyer, a 12th round pick in 2019 who may have been able to be signed only because Brandon Sproat went to college, has pitched very well after a rough start to the season — since May 20 he has a 3.28 ERA in 49.1 IP, and in his last five outings he has struck out 25 and walked 13 in 21.1 IP with a 1.69 ERA.
Keyber Rodriguez homered and stole a base. Thomas Saggese had a hit.
Jake Latz started for Round Rock. Latz gave up four runs in four innings on six hits — including two home runs — and two walks, striking out five. Joe Gatto, Ryder Ryan and Nick Snyder each threw one scoreless inning.
Leody Taveras walked and homered. Steele Walker had a hit and a walk. Nick Solak had a hit.
Jose Corniell started in Arizona and went three innings, allowing a run on three hits, two walks and two strike outs, with two wild pitches. Alex Speas struck out three in 1.1 IP, allowing no runs. Damian Mendoza allowed no runs in 1.2 IP with two Ks. Kai Wynyard struck out three while allowing a hit in an inning of work. Luke Schiltz struck out three and walked one in an inning of work. D.J. McCarty allowed a hit and a walk while striking out one in a scoreless inning.
Davis Wendzel had a pair of hits and a walk as he continued his rehab assignment. Cody Freeman had a hit, as he continues to rehab. Josy Galan had a double and a triple. Cameron Cauley and Efrenyer Narvaez each had a hit. Antonio Cabello and Junior Paniagua each double.
