Pitchers A.J. Alexy, Yerry Rodriguez, and Nick Snyder and infielder Sherten Apostel have been promoted from AA Frisco to AAA Round Rock, the team announced today. All are active for tonight’s game.

This is a pretty significant development. Alexy has been outstanding for Frisco, putting up a 1.61 ERA with 57 Ks against 21 walks in 50 innings for Frisco. He has been starting but in a sort of tandem setup, generally going 3 to 5 innings per outing.

Rodriguez has a 2.63 ERA in 51 innings, with 63 Ks against 21 walks. Like Alexy, he’s generally been going 3 to 5 innings per outing.

Snyder, meanwhile, has rocketed up through the minors this year after starting this season with Hickory. A righthanded reliever with an upper 90s fastball and wicked slider, he has struck out 42 of 106 batters while walking just 4 between Hickory and Frisco.

Apostel, meanwhile, got off to a slow start to the year and has spent time on the injured list, but has improved as the year has gone on.

No corresponding moves announced, as AA and A ball teams are off today. However, it wouldn’t be surprising if Josh Smith, Ezequiel Duran and/or Justin Foscue moved up to Frisco from Hickory tomorrow.
