The Texas Rangers have purchased the contract of pitcher Nick Snyder and recalled infielder Nick Solak. Joe Barlow has been placed on the injured list with a blister. Charlie Culberson had been placed on the COVID-19 list. To clear a 40 man spot for Snyder, John King has been moved from the 10 day injured list to the 60 day injured list.

Snyder, 25, is a righthanded reliever who was a 19th round pick in the 2017 draft. An infielder converted to pitching, he has blown up this year, putting up a 2.45 ERA in 33 innings between high-A, AA and AAA, with 47 Ks against 5 walks. He hits 100 mph on his fastball and has a quality slider, and it has been expected he would be up at some point this year.

Meanwhile, Solak comes back to the majors, not because he’s ready to return but because Charlie Culberson is showing COVID-19 symptoms. If he is positive I have to think there’s going to be some other guys going on the list, and possible some postponed games.

Meanwhile, John King moves to the 60 day injured list, and is now not eligible to return until the beginning of September. This is worrisome, given he was expected to be back after one rehab appearance for Round Rock. He made two, but is still experiencing soreness, and thus is still not ready to be back.
