Minor league update for 8/20/21

A bunch of nice pitching performances on the farm on Friday

Mason Englert continued his solid 2021 season with a nice start for Down East, allowing two runs in six innings on four hits and a walk, striking out six. Teodoro Ortega struck out three in two scoreless innings.

Luisangel Acuna had a pair of hits. Yenci Pena had a single and a homer. Daniel Mateo, Keyber Rodriguez, Alejandro Osuna and Thomas Saggese all had hits.

Down East box score

Dustin Harris only went one for three with a walk on Friday, lowering his batting average in high-A to .472 and his OPS to 1311. David Garcia had a single and a double. Trevor Hauver homered and walked. Frainyer Chavez and Jonathan Ornelas each had hits.

Hickory box score

Ronny Henriquez went six innings, allowing just one run on two hits (including a home run), walking no one and striking out six. Blake Bass, Hever Bueno, and the Viper each had a scoreless inning of work.

Sam Huff crushed a pair of home runs. Davis Wendzel homered. Josh Smith picked up a pair of hits. Josh Stowers and Bubba Thompson each had a hit and a walk. Blaine Crim had a hit.

Frisco box score

A.J. Alexy threw five shutout innings for Round Rock, allowing three hits and a walk, striking out three. Joe Gatto allowed three runs in 1.2 IP, striking out three.

Steele Walker had a hit and a walk. Sherten Apostel and Curtis Terry each had hits. Ryan Dorow homered.

Tim Brennan is rehabbing and got the start for the knee ligament Rangers, striking out two in two scoreless, hitless innings. Justin Anderson, who the Rangers signed to a two year minor league deal last offseason, and who is rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, made his first rehab appearance, striking out three in a scoreless inning. Alex Speas struck out four and walked two in two scoreless innings. Winston Santos allowed two runs in two innings while striking out three.

Antonio Cabello, the outfielder who the Rangers obtained in the Rougned Odor trade, is apparently their latest catcher conversion project, as he made his first appearance behind the plate on Friday. Cabello tripled in four at bats. Josy Galan had a pair of home runs and a walk. Zion Bannister had a double and a walk. Junior Paniagua and Cam Cauley each had a hit. Jojo Blackmon had a walk, a single and a triple.
