Saturday Morning Rangers Stuff

Texas Rangers update for Saturday, August 28

MLB: Houston Astros at Texas Rangers Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning, LSB.

The Rangers lost to the Astros last night but got a strong performance out of rookie Glenn Otto in his Major League debut.

Levi Weaver has postgame quotes from Otto and from Chris Woodward, who was like “lol yeah that start was cool but I had to get him out of there, we have a Tank to worry about.”

Evan Grant’s game story says it’s the kind of debut that the Rangers “haven’t had in nearly 40 years.”

Jeff Wilson has quotes on his substack as well, and all of the beats mentioned that Glenn Otto will probably stick around for a bit after that.

Elsewhere, Evan Grant talked to Hickory Crawdads manager Josh Johnson, one of just 10 Black minor league managers across all of the minor leagues.

That’s about it for this morning. The Rangers continue the Silver Boot series tonight with the Astros, 6:05 first pitch with Kolby Allard on the mound for the Rangers. Have a good weekend!
