Minor league update for 8/28/21

A dominant performance from a Down East pitcher highlights Saturday action

Down East had Nick Krauth get the start on Saturday, and Krauth had arguably the best start of the season for any Ranger minor league pitcher. Krauth threw a complete game, allowing one run on one hit and two walks, striking out nine.

Luisangel Acuna doubled, homered and stole a base. Daniel Mateo had a pair of hits and stole a base. Jayce Easley had a hit and two steals. Keyber Rodriguez had a hit.

Hickory had a pretty uneventful game. Dustin Harris singled twice, and Trevor Hauver and Jonathan Ornelas each singled once.

Zak Kent had a disaster start earlier this year for Hickory where he gave up 7 runs in 1.2 IP. Well, on Saturday, Kent went 1.2 IP for Frisco, but only gave up six runs this time. He allowed three home runs and walked one while striking out four. Fernery Ozuna allowed a pair of runs in two innings of work. Daniel Robert threw two scoreless innings, striking out five.

Sam Huff homered. Bubba Thompson and Blaine Crim each had hits. Josh Smith walked twice. J.P. Martinez had a single and a double.

Round Rock’s game was suspended in the bottom of the fourth. The first 12 hitters of the game for the Express were retired.

Josh Gessner allowed four runs in four innings of work for the ACL Rangers on four hits and a walk, striking out eight. 2021 7th and 8th rounders Bradford Webb and Larson Kindreich each threw two scoreless innings, with Webb fanning five and Kindreich fanning four. Aidan Curry allowed three runs on three hits and a walk in a scoreless inning.

Aaron Zavala had a hit and a walk. Jojo Blackman and Josy Galan each had a hit and a stolen base. Tucker Mitchell had a hit.
