45-85 - Rangers tell Astros to shove brooms where the sun don’t shine with 13-2 win

Well that’ll help the ol’ run differential

MLB: Houston Astros at Texas Rangers Raymond Carlin III-USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Rangers scored a beefy, season-high 13 runs while the Houston Astros scored a puny, humiliating two runs.

Well, that was unexpected. Facing a sweep with veteran Zack Greinke on the mound, the Rangers hauled off and put a week’s worth of runs on the board against AL favorite Houston.

It’s no Silver Boot but we take these.

Some of note:

  • Adolis Garcia continues to haunt Houston as today he went 3-for-4 with a walk and five RBI. Oh yeah, and Garcia’s grand slam was the Rangers’ first of the season and his 29th dinger of the year.
  • DJ Peters hit one to The Ballpark and went 3-for-4 with three RBI.
  • Yonny Hernandez, Isiah Kiner-Falefa, Nick Solak, and Jose Trevino also had a couple of hits each.
  • Taylor Hearn didn’t allow a baserunner through the first four innings today. Overall, Hearn went a career-high 6 23 innings and allowed a couple of runs on six hits and zero walks. Hearn also tied his personal best with six strikeouts.

Up Next: The Rangers welcome the Rockies to Arlington for a series with RHP A.J. Alexy set to make his MLB debut for Texas in the opener. Colorado will counter with RHP German Marquez. Monday night’s first pitch from The Shed is scheduled for 7:05 pm CT.
