Minor league update for 8/3/21

Newly promoted guys homered. So did Justin Foscue.

Gavin Collyer started for the Down East Wood Ducks on Tuesday. Collyer went four innings, striking out five and walking two, and allowed one run on three hits. Destin Dotson gave up a solo home run while striking out two in 1.2 IP.

Alejandro Osuna doubled. Keyber Rodriguez and Jayce Easley each had hits.

Down East box score

Justin Slaten went five innings for the Crawdads, allowing three runs on three hits (including a home run), striking out eight and walking two. Nic Laio threw a scoreless inning.

Dustin Harris, who was promoted from Down East, made his high-A debut with a double and two homers. Justin Foscue had a double, a homer and a HBP. Justin Hauver homered, singled and walked. Ezekiel Duran had a walk and a grand slam. Josh Smith had a hit. David Garcia had a hit and two walks. Jonathan Ornelas had a pair of hits.

Hickory box score

Jake Latz went 5.2 IP for Frisco, allowing three runs on a hit and two walks, striking out seven. Tyler Thomas and Hever Bueno each threw a scoreless inning.

Blaine Crim, who was promoted on Tuesday, had a homer and a walk. Bubb Thompson homered. Josh Stowers went 2 for 4 with a homer. Sam Huff, who has been in a slump, picked up a pair of hits.

Frisco box score

Wes Benjamin went five innings for Round Rock, giving up seven runs on ten hits and three walks, striking out four. Collin Wiles went four perfect innings, striking out five.

Yohel Pozo had a single and a triple. Nick Solak had a single. Sherten Apostel had a single and two walks.

Damian Mendoza started for the Baby Rangers but recorded just one out, giving up four runs on five hits and a walk. Michael Brewer threw 3.2 IP scoreless, allowing two walks and two hits while striking out four. D.J. McCarty allowed a solo home run in 2 innings of work, walking one and striking out three. Daniel Robert looks like he’s started a rehab assignment in Arizona — he went one inning, allowing a run while walking one and striking out two.
