39-72 - Rangers blasted 12-3 by A’s in latest of many losses

Well, that was ugly

MLB: Texas Rangers at Oakland Athletics Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Rangers got three runs but the Oakland Athletics exploded for twelve runs.

The Rangers actually led 2-0 in this one as they scored in the first inning of a baseball game for the first time in over three weeks. That lead, uh, did not last for long as Oakland scored the next twelve runs.

The A’s had four batters with at least two hits and an additional two with three or more. Meanwhile, the Rangers collected seven hits total.

I would say that this one won’t go on the 2021 team highlights DVD but Brock Holt came in and tossed a scoreless inning of relief while tossing 30 MPH gas and that’s one of the more memorable things that have happened on the field for this team in months.

Texas has now dropped five baseball games in a row.

Player of the Game: Adolis Garcia hit one to Piedmont and drove in all three Rangers runs.

Up Next: The Rangers will close out this dastardly series from the Bay with RHP Jordan Lyles set to make the start for Texas against RHP James Kaprielian for Oakland. Sunday’s first pitch from Oakland Coliseum is scheduled for 3:07 pm CT.
