Minor league update for 9/15/21

A doubleheader and a rainout among Rangers minor league activity

Down East had Josh Stephan make his third start in low-A, and he got knocked around some, allowing six runs in four innings on two walks and five hits (including a pair of homers) while striking out seven.

Luisangel Acuna had a homer and a walk. Cody Freeman and Keyber Rodriguez each had hits.

Hickory was rained out.

Frisco got swept in a doubleheader on Wednesday. Cody Bradford got hammered in Game One, allowing eight runs in three innings. Nonetheless, the Roughriders had a 9-8 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh, and Chase Lee, who had pitched a scoreless sixth, was positioned for the save. Unfortunately, Lee gave up a single, a double, and after a strikeout looking, allowed a walkoff single.

Justin Foscue had a double and a homer. Blaine Crim was three for three with a walk and a homer. J.P. Martinez had a pair of hits and a stolen base. Melvin Novoa had a single, a double and a homer. Josh Smith had a single and a walk. Bubba Thompson had a walk and a stolen base.

In Game Two, Davis Wendzel had a pair of hits and a walk. Melvin Novoa doubled. Josh Stowers and Bubba Thompson each had hits.
